Caroline Update

We went to OBX in the middle of July and enjoyed another week at the beach.  Caroline, once again, LOVED the ocean.  We'd really have to watch her because she would take off into the ocean, and for those who go to OBX, the ocean is super strong.  The waves are so much stronger than Myrtle Beach.  There are always rip currents there too.  The water retreating from shore knocks me off balance, so it was constantly knocking her down.

This girl is growing up too fast!  In the past two days, her favorite new thing to say is "mon" (c'mon) and "pay" (play).  She is doing her best at forming a sentence.  Not even 17 months and she's said, "I did it."

Yesterday, she kept saying to me, "Mon, mommy pay."  She would then grab my hand and lead me towards the toys and say, "pay."

We ended up staying at Mimi and Pop's for two nights (my mom and dad) because our a/c unit stopped working - now fixed!  We were reminded quickly how hard it was to self-soothe.  For some reason, she was not happy about sleeping at Mimi's.  She did well night one in a big girl bed (she insisted) but did wake up about 4 something and I ended up in the bed with her.  Naptime was AWFUL.  She threw a fit and we were constantly taking turns doing the naptime routine and laying her back down.  Finally, an hour later, we knew what we had to do.  We made sure she was dry, didn't want milk, had her pacifier, ernie, and cookie, put her in the crib, said, "I love you," and left her screaming.  20 minutes later, she was asleep.

She also is all about saying, "ta-da" when she does something she thinks is great.  She has also been jumping!  She can jump and land on her feet, but she prefers to land on her bottom, especially in the pool.

In less than 2 weeks, my girl will be spending her day with the sitter and Mimi again.  This summer has flown by.  I'm not quite ready to get back to the grind, but all good things must come to an end.
