Goodbye Summer

Wow, I'm really bad at updating this blog!  I have to apologize.  It's unfortunately not on the top of my To-Do list each day.

Since the beach, here's what's been going on.

*I've been obsessed with the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.  It really does have a great storyline, despite all the bad things you've heard about it.  I read the first two books in a week.  The third has taken me some time because my UMD course and then going back to work got in the way.  If you're looking for a good read, I suggest it.  Even though it is REALLY hard to read at first around everyone, you get used to it.

*I started back to school last week.  Kids come tomorrow.  Ready for them.  I hate waiting around once I'm back at school and I absolutely HATE the first day.  I'm always so nervous and the worst part is I don't know their names!!

*B and I have started back on our eating regimen.  Thank goodness!  I was really starting to feel gross when I was just eating whatever I could find this summer.

*Caroline is just blossoming!  She has really been trying to say sentences.  Her latest is, "Cookie, are you?"  When she is looking for something.  Most of the time, she is looking for her "pappy" that she threw somewhere.  Her new favorite word is "no."  Everything is no.

*I have decided to paint some parts of the house.  This will be completed on Labor Day weekend.  I am looking forward to a project at home!

*I finished my Human Physiology course with an A!

*We were able to visit my college roommate and her husband (Mel and Bill) in PA.  We had so much fun for such a short weekend!  We took Caroline to the zoo (she was fascinated!) and to the pool.  She really enjoyed being around "Mel, Beel, and Arlowe."  I also thoroughly enjoyed catching up and having some girl talk!

Things that work with Caroline:

So ignoring is great when she screams or throws tantrums.  BUT, when the girl throws toys or hits, ignoring does nothing.  She has started time-out.  She has a special time-out chair and pretty much knows what to do from watching cousin Gracie.  She does really well, because I use the line, "do you want to go to timeout?"  However, the key is not to just threaten.  The first time, I say, don't do that (whatever it may be).  The second time I say the same thing, but add the timeout threat.  The third time is timeout time.  She knows I follow through. [key to discipline!]

I also make her look at me when I'm telling her not to do something.  Sometimes, she tries to distract me when she knows she's really in trouble.  She'll start smiling and say, "Hi, Mommy."  Its very hard to not smile when she does this.

We have finally given up bottle and are solely on sippy cup.  Bad thing- she's even more attached to pappy.  We are going to wait until 18 mo to really start trying to potty train, but no way am I pushing it!  I think the pappy will have to wait for a little bit long, but definitely by 2- it will be gone!!

Just a few pictures below of my girl!!
