Slow down summer!

So, lets see if I can include everything that's happened since the last time I posted.

We enjoyed another Easter down in GA and Caroline had her first Easter egg hunt.  She participated for a short time before finally wandering off to other things. She also went to the farm at Ms. Brenda's and Mr. Henry's house and saw baby chicks, big "Boc Bocs," a miniature horse, some crazy goats, and lots of cats.

Caroline put her dancing shoes on at Sarah and Bryan's reception in Blacksburg with her cousin Gracie.

She played a lot with Mel that weekend.

She even was lucky to dance with the bride and groom!

She enjoyed herself the most running on the field in Lane Stadium.

Brandon and I spent our first night away from Caroline, unexpectedly.  It was the weekend of Sarah and Bryan's wedding.  Since both our parents were there and watching her as we celebrated with our friends by participating in the wedding, we gladly enjoyed ourselves as well.  We stayed up in Blacksburg after the reception to help clean up and go out for a drink.  Needless to say, I was told by Mimi to "let her sleep."  So I did, nervously keeping myself from jumping in the car and going to get her upon our return home.  Early the next morning (between 7-8) I got up and drove to get miss C.  Glad to see her, and seeing an exhausted Mimi.  She continued to exhaust us the following night by waking up several times and clinging to me for dear life.  Looks like we're both pretty attached to each other.

Caroline had a rough spring and spent an entire week with a fever.  It rose so high we ended up taking her to the ER.  After a few tests, nothing was found, so we just controlled the fever and waited for the virus to pass.

She now has a total of 10 teeth, four top front, four bottom front, and two molars are almost completely through.  This girl always cuts at least 2 teeth at a time.  She's a trooper though.

Caroline has started putting words together, even though most of her talk is still jibber jabber, she will use one or two words to express to us what she wants.  She tries to say EVERYTHING that comes out of our mouths, so we really watch what we say.  Here are a few of her favorite words/phrases

"Ehmo" or "Eh yo" - Elmo.  She asks for this in the car especially with our lovely personalized elmo cd that says her name over and over.
"Pease" - Please.  She says this if she wants anything.  It caught on fast, but now she thinks if she says it, she gets whatever she wants.
"Ouchie" - That speaks for itself.
"Hot" - I try to be good about using words to help teach her meanings as well throughout the day.  So, she can feel something and tell me its hot, but the downfall is if its cold, she also says hot.
"Elbob"  Elbow.  So we have her tiny slide in our house and she's been hitting her elbows a lot and I respond, "did you hurt your elbow?"  of course, she repeats, "elbob"  Somehow, the meaning was mistaken because when she hit her foot next she said, "Elbob."
"huh?" or a slight grunt with head shake.  This is her yes.  She is a lazy responder.
"Ca" sounds like how people in Boston say car.  We think it means outside, but we haven't figured it out 100%.  She was very vocal with this word at the beach.
"Wawee" - watermelon
"Buhbee" - Bunny.  She calls for them in our backyard, since we have many rabbit holes.

I could keep going and going.  I'm taking every opportunity to video all of her funny sayings and moments.  Such a great age and she really is a sponge.

The other day I asked her what she wanted for a snack at her babysitters.  I said, "Would you like yogurt for a snack?" and she said "no." I said, "what do you want?" and she said, "um, cookie."  She's too smart for me.  She had yogurt for snack that day.

We took our 2nd beach trip with Miss C a week ago.  She did great, minus the rash she accumulated.  She slept well, ate well, played hard.  I was worried about how vocal she is being at a campground, but for the most part, not everyone in the campground heard her.  She became very brave midweek with the ocean.  Finally running into it versus running away.  If you walked by our campsite, you'd see a mesh fence.  Most people do this for small dogs.  However, our fence was for our child.  She has no boundaries and it cut down on a lot of chasing.  It helped to have mom and dad camping in front of us because if she escaped, that's where she'd end up.

Now that her and I are spending some quality time together at home, we are both realizing our limits with each other.  Caroline is a very independent little girl at such a young age.  She also doesn't stop.  In our house, she quickly runs out of activities to keep her busy and with the combination of the sweltering heat preventing outside time, she's into everything she's not supposed to be.  She's accomplished climbing into the glider in her room (and does this quite often when we aren't watching), she plays with the file cabinet keys if she can find them, she likes to flush the toilet, unroll the toilet paper, pull towels out of the kitchen drawers, pull wii games out of the tv console, turn on and off the tv, pull my phone out its case when she can reach it, dump her socks and/or shoes out on her floor, pull clothes out of our drawers....the list goes on.  At that point, she's hit all the rooms in the house minus the basement.  She doesn't go down there - too much stuff and spiders.

Now that this post has become a Caroline blog (as everything in my life is about her and that's okay- i love it), I'll quickly add a few side notes...

I'm taking a course this summer in Human Physiology.  Its been, busy.  Lots of reading, and thinking, and problem solving, but I'm enjoying it...and feel so unhealthy while doing so.

The storm the other night blew out our power (the power lines behind our house were in our neighbors yard).  We luckily didn't have a fire and with the help of knowing the director of the electric dept's daughter, we have our power back on late Saturday afternoon.

We head back to the beach when we go to the Outerbanks in two weeks.Looking forward to another family beach trip with B and C.
