Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

This NYE was very low key for me and B. I spent most of my break nesting and getting the baby's room together. With the glider, crib, and drawers up, bedding washed, clothes washed, I still need the get the changing table up and some decor. I even got some curtains (room darkening and helps with sound too) that I'm trying out. The room is sooo bright because its on the front of the house and for some reason, its the brightest room in the house! So even though a Winne the Pooh valence would look cute with the bedding, I think these may work.

B and I had a date at Carlos on NYE. The food was yummy and it was my first time there. However, after reading Jenny McCarthy's, Belly Laughs book, I realized that the 3rd trimester symptoms are in full swing. (By the way, I highly recommended this book for those of you who know NOTHING about pregnancy. Its a quick, easy read, but make sure you do it very early on in your pregnancy. She's blunt, but its great and soo true.) We saw a very slim, tall woman wearing a cute, cute, short dress and my reaction was mean. All I could think was, "Ew, you suck." Haha, in other words, skinny people suck right now.

We wound up at my parents house by 10 for the dropping of the ball to welcome 2011. It was a quiet evening, even with Gracie entertaining us. So, to kick off 2011, I want to quickly recap some high and low points of the year 2010:

1. I completed my 2nd year of teaching and began my 3rd year at LB. Brandon finished his 4th year at TMEIC and will soon get another vacation week in July for the end of year 5!

2. We purchased our first family car - Taurus X.

3. We learned the hard way to be prepared for snow ahead of time. The lack of a shovel during our first snow storm was not pleasant.

4. We welcomed two new Georgia babies and a new VA baby. Bryar and Maddie arrived in March, while AnnaReese came in May.

5. We celebrated our 2 wedding anniversary on May 31, right after celebrating Allie and Josh's wedding on the 29th.

6. Brandon and I had a memorable Myrtle beach trip in June finding out that we would be expecting our first child.

7. I ran and completed my first half marathon in 2 hours and 24 minutes (or so) with hardly any training due to injury.

8. Brandon went back to school, taking online classes early on in 2010.

9. Emily moved away from home to Vienna to start teaching.

10. Brandon was diagnosed with melanoma and had surgery to remove it (and yay its all gone!)

11. Brandon also scared us with some chest pains (turned out to be nothing serious), where we spent some time in the hospital.

12. We celebrated Kelli and Derek's wedding in November.

13. Enjoyed our only VT game in Charlotte, where the Hokies FINALLY beat the Noles in the ACC Championship.

14. We experienced our first loss of a grandparent, when my Granny passed away December 9.

15. Brandon was promoted at work to a new position, while I took on a major role in my school, adding just a bit more money to that paycheck!

What to look forward to in 2011:

1. The arrival of our baby girl in early March :)

2. The end of year 3 in teaching, and possible tenure!

3. Brandon finishing school.

4. Completing our basement.

5. The weddings of Lindsey and Derek, and Patrick and Brigette in November. Congrats to Jennifer Holland and Noah, Jim and Julia, and Kelly and Adam on getting engaged!

I'm sure there are more exciting things to come in 2011. Here's to a new, exciting year ahead.
