Random thoughts on a Monday

What's up with this crazy weather? In the 50's today, snowing tonight? and more on Friday/Saturday?

We went skiing on Saturday at Winterplace. It was fun. I'm getting pretty good at it now...4 or 5 years later.

I'm still running and training officially starts in two weeks from today :).

Second semester is going well so far. I have a very large Anatomy class and they seem to be good so far. No complaining, so that's a step up from 1st semester. My second block has a famous student who is well known for her mouth and attitude. I've been waiting patiently for her "blow up," but I have yet to see it. Maybe she likes me? Or maybe its that I treat her like everyone else and she's cooperating with me? Who knows...I guess we'll see. My last class is advanced studies biology, so I have good students there...very bright too!

We were also informed last week (a Wednesday morning before school) that there WILL be cuts to positions. Don't know where or how many. That was the last word at the faculty meeting....then we were sent off to teach first block. How nice.

The economy sucks, they want to change education and all society does is complain about the kids not being as educated as they once were when they leave high school. So what does the government do? Cut funds from education. Very smart. Cut more teachers so more students are negatively affected. Why not cut the ones who aren't in direct interaction, or working their ass off to teach these kids. Especially when you're the only one who cares if the kid succeeds.

I think I've done enough complaining. Sorry.
